Serbian audience loved domestic soap opera Secrets of the Vine. One of the main filming locations – Rajac wine cellars – not only became a popular touristic site, but also attracted many more film crews, such as the production of the drama series The Time of Death. The Rajac wine cellars region is today one of the most prominent Serbian location for filming.

However, the main star location for film crews is definitely Stara Planina (The Old Mountain), whose cruel but fascinating nature was the perfect scenery for 2022 Australian Oscar Nominee You Won’t Be Alone and for Bollywood blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike.

Brutalist architecture of Novi Beograd (New Belgrade) is highly appreciated by directors and production designers of many commercials and music videos. However, advertisers’ favorite place among all mountains, is the authentic beauty of Tara Mountain which will shine again soon in the Serbian feature thriller film Isolation. Other locations highly recommended from production teams are the Royal Palace and the Port of Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Pančevo.

But it’s not just the aesthetic appeal that makes Serbia stand out. The friendly and skilled local crew make for a seamless production process from start to finish. Moreover, Serbia’s rental companies are equipped with the latest technology to assist filmmakers from production to post-production, all in one convenient location.

Belgrade, one of the most vibrant and exciting European capitals, is the main urban location for films shot in Serbia and it is also home of film studios. Dean Devlin and Balkanic Media productions The Outpost (seasons 2,3 and 4) and The Ark, currently on SYFY channel, were shot in PFI Studios.
